12/20/09 EYY 2010 Registration Re-Opening

The level of interest in EYY 2010 is simply amazing. We have roughly 80 players interested at the moment. In an effort to get everybody to play, new schedules are being developed that will allow us to accommodate one or two more teams. Now the tournament will start at 2 PM and end at 7:30 PM.

In a few minutes, online registration will be re-opened.

Based on the number of people who will have registered by end of day on the 22nd, the number of teams in the tournament will be determined, as well as the rosters.

If there’s still room on these rosters for some more players, we will still allow sign-ups after the 22nd. We’ll place late sign-ups on teams closest in age range that still have room on them. Since we must place the shirts order at the latest by the 23rd, players who register after the 22nd are not guaranteed a shirt.

12/18/09 EYY 2010 Registration

A few reminders/new announcements concerning registration:

  1. The list of confirmed participants is being updated every couple of days. It’s posted under Tournaments/Eat Your Young. If your name’s not on there and you think it should be, please report the problem to the GMDA Board: gmdaboard@gmail.com.

  2. As you will see, the cap of 60 has nearly been reached already. Not to worry though; given the high level of interest in this tournament, the GMDA Board discussed accommodating more players while still making sure everyone gets enough PT. We decided to increase the cap to 72. Keep signing up!

  3. Last but not least, we’d like to ask you to please not sign up if you’re not sure you can be present. Since there’s a cap and a lot of interest, it could prevent someone else from signing up, we could end up with empty spots at the tournament, and it’d make logistics more difficult. Please note that it is not our policy to hold spots or issue refunds to no-shows. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

12/15/09 EYY 2010 Registration System

We need to be able to match the names of the people who filled out a form with the names of the people who paid. If the PayPal account or the credit card used to pay for your registration is under a name other than yours, please send a quick email to the GMDA Board to let us know. Thanks!

10/29/09 Winter League - Important Note re Registration System

Please note that the way the registration system is currently set up, if you do not successfully go through the payment step, your registration is considered invalid. In other words, if you filled out the form but didn’t pay, you are NOT on the list of registrants. If that’s your case, you’ll need to sign up again from scratch, and soon. Maximum capacity has nearly been reached.

10/21/09 Call for Captains

We need captains! One or two per team. 8 teams per session. Please get involved and give us a helping hand! You need not have a lot of experience or be highly skilled at Ultimate to be a great candidate for captaining. You also need not be a coach (but you are certainly free to take on that role as well.) Below is a list of responsibilities and qualities we’re looking for in captains, as well as a list of some of the rewards you can expect from being a captain. If you’re interested in captaining, please contact the GMDA Board no later than October 30th, 2009. In that email, please tell us which session(s) you want to captain, and a little bit about why you want to captain. The Board will review all your responses, select, and announce captains by November 6, 2009. Please note that it's important if you wish to captain that you keep draft night(s) open in case you’re selected (November 9, 2009, for session 1, and February 8, 2010, for session 2.) And lastly, please note that we will favor people who can captain both sessions.

Qualities we look for in a captain/Captain responsibilities:

  • Have excellent attendance at league games
  • Attend/pick your team at draft night(s)
  • Check the website, the calendar, and your email for updates
  • Relay all appropriate information to the team members
  • Make sure your team is ready to play at the designated time/field
  • Encourage your team to participate in all games
  • Make sure you and your team are having fun!
  • Report any issues (attendance issues, etc.) to the GMDA Board
  • Be sure you and your team are aware of all rules and policies
  • Report (or appoint a team member(s) to report) scores to the GMDA Board promptly after each game
  • Appoint a team member(s) to score/timekeep each game (new this year)
Rewards:

  • You get to pick your team!
  • You get to pick a team name and theme! (optional)
  • You get a free GMDA disc!
  • You will not be asked to collect money from anyone!
  • An opportunity to develop and use your leadership skills
